Volunteer
Participate in Special Events
Volunteers can participate in special events at the California State Capitol Museum throughout the year that provide opportunities to greet, educate, and entertain visitors. Participating volunteers may help with event set-up and clean-up, distribute food to guests, and engage and educate the public through living history. For information about becoming a volunteer at the State Capitol Museum, please call the Tour Office at (916) 324-0333.
Historic Room Interpreting Docent
Stationed on the Capitol’s first floor, interpreting docents greet visitors, answer questions, and bring the stories behind the recreated Historic Rooms to life. This is an opportunity to wear period clothing (1900-1910). Interpreting docents receive additional mentoring.
